H.J. Baker & Bro. Opens PRO-PAK ® Plant In Forest, Mississippi

Forest, MI (PRWEB) October 12, 2007 -- The Board of Directors of H. J. Baker & Bro., Inc. recently visited one of the newest additions to the Company's facilities - the Feed Division plant in Forest, Mississippi - for a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The Board was joined by the family-owned company's owners and leaders: President and CEO Christopher Smith, President of Business Development David Smith and Chairman of the Board Matthew Smith.

The three brothers are the fourth generation from the Smith family to serve H. J. Baker in leadership positions. Since 1850 H. J. Baker has been providing quality ingredients to the feed, fertilizer, and sulphur industries. This remarkable longevity is testimony to this family company's commitment to excellence. That tradition continues today.

Together with the Board of Directors, Matthew, David and Christopher Smith work to support growth and to ensure that H.J. Baker is built on a solid foundation. The Forest plant will join others all over the country in continuing H. J. Baker's 150-year commitment to its customers. The opening of this plant, which will produce PRO-PAK® and H.J. Baker's PROPLUSTM protein concentrates for poultry, is strategically important, especially given that it is located in Scott County, home to more chickens per square mile than anywhere else in the country.

According to Christopher Smith, "This plant is strategically important to our clients in this geographic area and having the plant fully operational will fulfill our commitment to providing products of the highest quality and value to our customers." The Forest plant will serve Sanderson Farms, Peco Foods, Koch Foods, Wayne Poultry and Marshall Durbin.

David Smith echoed his brother's comments when he said, "Some of our customers have been with H. J. Baker for generations and that is a great source of pride for us. It is with pride and respect for H.J. Baker's history that we open this plant and look forward together to a future of continued strategic growth."

At the ceremonial ribbon cutting for the plant on September 25th, the plant manager Gary Nelson and the plant's employees were joined by H. J. Baker President of the Feed Group Mark Hohnbaum, Marketing Manager Mike Bynum, Forest Mayor Nancy Chambers, State Representative Tracy Arinder, and County Supervisor Tim Sorey.

Representing the plant were Plant Secretary Becky Windham and mill workers Bruce Warren, David Key, Tommy Bates and Willie Lofton.

As an international manufacturer, importer, exporter and sales agent, H.J. Baker mobilizes resources throughout the world. The company's strategically located processing plants, offices and warehouses create a super-efficient pipeline for the vital commodities and products that it sources, manufactures and markets.

H.J. Baker is highly qualified in materials handling, storage and transportation. H.J. Baker pays personal attention to every aspect of the operation. Each phase of its organization is operated with maximum efficiency to ensure customer satisfaction.
